In short: if you hold a non-EU healthcare specialist qualification, this call opens the theoretical-practical exams for its recognition in Spain (a prior assessment report is required).
In person or by representative? The exams are in person and personal: you must sit them yourself; no representative or remote sitting is allowed.
The Resolution of the Directorate-General for Professional Regulation convenes theoretical-practical tests (70-question multiple choice in 90 min + practical case analysis in 75 min) to recognise non-EU specialist qualifications in Health Sciences, under Royal Decree 459/2010 of 16 April.
Do you hold a non-specialist university degree from outside the EU? The general university degree recognition route (RD 889/2022) does not apply to Health Sciences specialisations — these are expressly excluded (Additional Provision 1 of RD 889/2022). For medical specialists and other healthcare specialists, the route is always through the Ministry of Health, not the Ministry of Universities. See also: Recognition of foreign university degrees — general route.
Who can take part: people with a prior favourable assessment report, a non-EU healthcare specialist qualification, who have not used up their attempts (max 2).
After passing: a supervised practice period before full professional recognition.
Dates: results of the call published on 1 October 2026 on the Ministry of Health website — Title recognition; confirm participation at least one week before the exam.
